Balsa Carbo X3 (Butterfly)

Balsa Carbo X3 (Butterfly)

The BalsaCarbo X3 is the result of Butterfly’s research in order to offer the same advantages of a lightweight Balsa veneer in combination with stabilizing Carbon layers and Limba outer veneers also to an allround player: lightweight, great feeling, control and speed, in a version that is even more controlled and easy to play. A good feeling for blocks and spinful, but also heavy topspins allow the player to take control in the game without losing control for ball placement.

The Balsa Carbo X3, one of Butterfly's "experimental creations," is a continuation of the X5; however, it has not enjoyed the same type of success as its big brother. Construction: Limba-Carbon-Balsa-Carbon-Limba. This blade is surprisingly slow, and truly plays in the All+ range. Medium-soft feel (due to the Balsa), not too mushy (due to Carbon), and flexible (due to Limba). It works well for a wide range of styles, and most rubbers including long pips will fit with this blade. Personally, I am quite disappointed with this blade because of the poor build quality; the handle tab falls off and the blade splinters VERY easily. BTY is rumored to have marketed a few "Made in China" blades, including the X3, with lower quality. Although it isn't priced as high as other premium BTY blades, you can find many higher-quality, better playing blades out there in the same price-range. Don't waste your time and money getting this blade, unless you can try it out cheap.
