The Butterfly Bryce FX is a soft-sponged variant of the Bryce family, known for their explosive speed and power. Bryce FX is a good rubber unglued, but it is truly a beast when speed glued. It is extremely springy yet retains a high level of control at the same time. However, for legality purposes, I will only be discussing this rubber unglued in this review. Bryce FX is a good rubber for an offensive style game. One of the unique properties of the Bryce family rubbers is the thick topsheet (not the sponge), which makes it difficult for the rubber to "bottom out" during counterlooping far from the table. Even though the Bryce FX is relatively soft, it is great for offensive minded loopers in addition to counter drivers. I would recommend this rubber to intermediate players who feel that they need something more than the Sriver family rubbers but still want to retain a high amount of control. Bryce FX is a classic rubber with High Tension technology, thus it isn't as bouncy as tensors or spring sponge rubbers. The big downside to Bryce FX is the high price (around $45-$50 retail). I personally don't think the high price tag is worth it since speed glue is illegal now and you can get a similar rubber for a lot cheaper. And if you're looking for a fast rubber unglued, look elsewhere. Bryce FX is not that fast when unglued.

If bryce speed is like a higher throw version of bryce speed fx, then bryce fx is a lower throw version. thats right, it has a even lower throw than bryce speed fx. This rubber is for people who really solid loops. i sometimes use this for my backhand, because it enables for deadly counterloops and high controlled blocks. Its not the best for really spiny, high arc loops, because it has a really low throw angle, and its not terribly tacky, so its not easy to put spin on the ball. In fast rallies, it can be really good because it is very fast. I recommend this mostly to experienced players to really good touch.

Bryce FX is THE best selling rubber in Butterfly's high tension series. The reasons are pretty simple: incredible speed, adequate spin, dangerous low throw, and very good durability. Plus it glues to be a monster. In comparison to a Butterfly classic, Sriver, Bryce FX is simply much faster and livelier. It has a much lower throw angle, making the over the table loop very hard to defend.

Butterfly also delivers Bryce FX with a thick grippy topsheet, making it very easy to serve and loop. The thickness of the topsheet makes its durability very high. A sheet of Bryce FX can easily perform consistently for 4-6 months under heavy use, as oppose to 1-2 month of a tensor rubber. Despite not having any glue effect, the speed of Bryce FX unglued will be adequate for many players.

This rubber will become a classic (if it's not one already)
