Michael Maze (Butterfly)

Denmark’s rising young star, Michael Maze helped design and plays with this Arylate/Carbon blade. Similar to our popular Timo Boll Spirt model, this blade offers a little more speed and even more control. With a med-hard feel this is a perfect blade for hard hitters. The Butterfly Michael Maze blade is a blade that Butterfly claims to have made the perfect speed to control ratio with. In my opinion, it lacks speed, has unnecessary control.

Basically, imagine a timo Boll Spirit, except make it softer. thats basically what the michael maze is. The wood is relatively soft, so you have great control, but the shots seem to like float onto and off of the paddle. I personally believe (my profressional opiniong of course :) that there is too much control for the compromise of speed. But i am a pretty advanced player with pretty good feeling in my arm, so for $110, so i personally would not pick it as my blade of choice.

This is my current blade, and it really is a power loopers dream! Stiff, with almost no vibration, but still with a great soft feel in the short game. The best blocking blade I've used (maybe the Schlager Carbon is a tiny bit better for blocking, but not much!) And looping is a breeze. I especially like it for bh (kinda strange since Maze is such a fh oriented player) but it's also good for fh. Easy to play away from the table, it has plenty power! I also found out something strange, it actually chops really good with hard rubbers! I try to avoid chopping, but it's good for mixing up the game if I'm far from the table (which I usually am). I liked this sooo much better than the Timo Boll Spirit, although they are supposed to be very similar. The Maze Off felt a lot softer to me, and just worked better for everything! One last thing, the handle is just fantastic! I'm keeping this handle forever (I'll move it over if I change the blade)

Great blade for spin looping or power looping, better suited for people looking to power loop. Splinters a bit easily, but built with pretty good quality. Fairly light, usually around 85 grams, and decent feel. Pretty controllable, faster than the Timo Boll Spirit.

For my style of power looping, this blade is simply not fast enough, contrary to many people saying it's too fast. It has much more of a woody feel than the Iolite, the latter which I favour strongly.

Still, it's a very nice blade, very well constructed, and the handle is comfortable.
