Tenergy 05 (Butterfly)

Tenergy 05 (Butterfly)

This is the first rubber to feature Butterfly’s new “Spring Sponge”. Spring Sponge feels hard yet its new technology allows it to hold the ball on the racket longer. Tenergy 05 combines this new explosive sponge with a new tensioned top-sheet with maximum surface grip.

The result is a rubber that produces massive amounts of spin on serves and topspin drives. Tenergy is also the fastest most explosive rubber in our line all without the use of any speed-glues or tuning. Tenergy will keep its speed throughout the life of the rubber without need for any special treatments. Finally a rubber that will make you feel like you are playing in the days of the 38 mm ball again!

The Tenergy series really rocks! This rubber really shines in respect to spin, speed and catapult. The high trow angle makes it easy to initiate attack, the spin and speed can cause your opponent serious problems. When playing this rubber, the blade is a crucial issue. For a topspin player (and that's who tis rubber is for) who plays with serious amount of spin and feeling, I would suggest a Photino, than the catapult effect makes it an outstanding combination and the ability to generate massive spin is unique. More direct players and hard hitters may prefer it on a Amultart, though I think for such a guy the spin qualities are not needed. Only downside to me is that it is sensitive to incoming spin when you are not active. This needs real expertise and you have to play a very active block play (meaning tiny counterloops) at least. A must try! If it doesn't play well, think of changing the blade.

I thought that the hype about tenergy was to much but i have to admit that it is an exceptional rubber,
Its a medium to hard sponge and the speed is amazing, it is very controlable also in short gameplay and the spin is very good although on a nittaky violin you have to brush it well.
To hit with tenergy is great to, you can place the ball where you want it, and blocking is no problem at all to although you might hve to adjust your angle a bit deu to the speed and the medium high throw angle, i cant wait for the 64 wich is softer and even more controllable they say.

The Tenergy 05 Black 2.1 mm is a great sheet of rubber for the looping player. Its best used on forehand since it has a high throw and its really spinny. I extremely like it because it is so easy to counteract different kinds of spin, especially underspin, with its high throw. I just do a normal loop with Tenergy and it will counter even the heaviest underspin, of which i could not counter with other rubbers. It is a great choice for the intermediate to advanced players, but is not a great rubber for novices. This is a must-try for more experienced players!
