Venus (Galaxy)

Venus (Galaxy)

This is the Latest Rubber from Yin-he or Galaxy as is more commonly known.

This Series of Rubber has the Tensioned Topsheet, which has been done using a chemical process instead of the usual stretching of the top sheet.

The topsheet is very spinny and soft, and has outstanding touch and control.

Galaxy Venus is a decent rubber and is pretty cheap. It is a Chinese-Euro style hybrid rubber, meaning that it has a tacky topsheet, but a medium, to medium-soft sponge. There is a good amount of tack to start with, but it wears off pretty soon. Once broken in, this rubber is fabulous. Loops have excellent arcs. The control is also very high with this rubber. Serves can be easily loaded with spin, and the short game is easily controlled. It also makes a great chop-and-attack rubber for modern defenders.

My main issue with this rubber is the durability. The topsheet gets dirty quickly, even with proper care and cleaning. Once this happens, the rubber is extremely difficult to play with (slick topsheet for a Chinese-type rubber is always a bad sign). It loses it's ability to make good spin, so serves are ineffective and loops are difficult to control since the ball cannot arc back down onto the table. I even dislike it for chopping once the rubber loses its tackiness.

I advise people who are looking for a traditional, tacky hard-sponged Chinese rubber to steer clear from this. If you are looking for a dynamic, European speed-glue replacement rubber, I also advise you to look elsewhere. Still, for the low price, this rubber is definitely worth a try. A word of warning though: you get what you pay for. Don't expect a low-price rubber to last that long.

The milkyway our galaxy venus is a nice allround to off minus rubber that offers a lot of controll with blocking and wih looping, its a somewhat heavy rubber and it has a grippy surface. It is not a real fast rubber more medium speed , its a nice allround rubber and he price is nice to of course when you look at euro our Japanese rubber prices.
Not for fast attackers, more for allround players

For a while, I searched through a library of Chinese rubbers to substitute for the ever expensive Japanese/European rubbers. Venus is a solid attempt from Galaxy/Yin-He at a Japanese rubber, but this rubber is definitely more of a hybrid of Japanese sponge and a Chinese topsheet. The topsheet is slightly tacky (it remains on there contrary to what others say) and quite thick, and the sponge is a medium soft Japanese sponge. The result is a very spinny rubber with a low throw. The short game is fantastic because of its semi tacky topsheet, and it's also great for the serve game. The loop over the table stays very low and it's extremely hard for an opponent to return, but I find that once you get off the table it lacks the high end speed and power.

Overall this is a fantastic light weight (compared to Traditional Chinese rubbers) for only $14.

This rubber is from Galaxy. Regarding the speed of the rubber, it is good. It is around the speed of a Dawei Inspirit. I'm not that impressed with the speed of the rubber, nor am I impressed with the sponge. But the thing that I like about this rubber is the topsheet. The rubber is pretty soft and tacky. The topsheet is so very spinny. You can generate so much spin on your serves with very little effort, if that is a positive for you. Spinny slow loops are good. This rubber is not so fast, so control is good. You can glue/boost it to be much faster. Looks like a very high quality rubber.
