this varnish really protects my blade against splintering. My joola Kool blade is almost six years old and not splintering at all when i used voc glues and speed glues. Now that i have used voc-free, water-based glue, i don't see any problems either. at first, i found the varnish quite expensive because i had to buy an entire bottle, which was more than i needed for my blade. but six years later, the bottle is still in my garage and i know i can still use it. the manufacturer claims that if the varnish dries up, i can just add water and it will be ready for use.
it's really hard for me to think of anything to say against the varnish. if i have any complaints, its the application which takes hours. I had to wait for a weekday when i wouldn't play for me to apply the varnish. but otherwise, it's ok.
would advise buyers to share the expense with other players when buying this varnish. the 100 ml bottle is definitely good for 20 blades -- more than most players would own in a lifetime!

While more expensive than over the counter woodworking poly, joola blade sealer is easy to apply, sets in a few hours, and does a great job protecting against splintering. You can do a second coat 24 hours later to protect better against the newer, stronger water based glues. This sealer shines especially on Limba outer ply blades. Recommended for ANY Stiga or other unsealed blade. Please Note: this is a WATER based sealer and does not contain VOCs.

varnish is really essential to protect your blade. i used this varnish back when vocs were not illegal, but i can not be sure wheter this has them or not. one of my blades sealed with this passed a VOC test, maybe after long periods of exposure the vocs will all evaporate out.

but anyways, this is great stuff for your blade. it does not cost that much , 10-20 dolalrs, will last your life time. it is serves just like a clear coat on your car, it prevents surface disruption. this can include rubber regluing, and other contact to the surface of the blade. it is worth every enny to buy and protect your paddle.

This Varnish really protects your blade when attaching rubbers frequently. It is very easy to put onto your blade but if you put too much on your bat will seem to be realy heavy and it is likely to fail VOC tests

Joola Blade Varnish is a must have treatment for any blade. It protects your wood from the harmful effects of gluing over and over again, such as splintering and tears in the wood.

I believe there is VOCs in this, but my paddle had it, but somehow it still passed the test thingy.

Anyway, basically, you just apply a thin layer, and it acts like a film. So when you glue, the glue actually dries onto the varnish, instead of the blade, so the rubber still sticks on perfects and normally, except the glue does not seep into the wood of the blade, thus preventing harmful effects.

I HIGHLY recommend you to use this varnish. This will extend the life of your blade at least 2 or 3 times.
